About the Istituto
The Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Cultural Section of the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, was established in 1976. The current premises have a historical value, they belong to the Italian Government and are located near the campus of the University of Toronto.
We are a centre for cultural and academic activities, a school of Italian language and civilization, a source of information about contemporary Italy, its regions and its multilayered cultural heritage as well as a venue for art exhibitions, lectures, films, and video screenings.
Students choose the Institute because:

in Toronto and in Vaughan we offer a variety of courses ranging from beginner to advanced levels;

our courses follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages set by the Council of Europe;

we offer special interest courses on, for instance, business, stylistics, grammar, conversation and culture;

Our teachers are highly qualified native speakers of Italian;

Small groups: minimum 6 to maximum 13 students from age 16 to senior;

Students can participate in the cultural events organized by the IIC;

Students have free access to the Institute's library and movies;

Certificates of proficiency can be issued upon request;

Students can benefit from various scholarships offered by language schools in Italy;

The Institute is the only place in Toronto where the Certification of Italian Proficiency exams (esami CILS) are held. This certification is officially recognized by the European Unionn.

OUR SCHEDULE
Once a week: 25 hours over ten weeks
Twice a week: 25 hours over six weeks
Intensive: three times a week for a total of 25 hours over four weeks
Private: flexible according to the students' special interests and needs
